The first steps have been made to add vinyl control.
In this first test, Final Scratch records should be working in relative mode.
If this works, I don't think it will be too hard to add support for absolute mode and for the other record types.

uh.. i'm having a reallly hard time getting this to work.
First time i tried it i've managed to get some SOME degree of control on second deck (pitch control seemed to work ok, although there were some problems with stopping/resuming playback).
But then things went weird and I now cant bring it back to the previous state. When i drop the needle on the record the track position jumps to '0' and the playback behaves as if some kind of extremely tight loop was set.

Deck one doesn't respond to vinyl control at all.

Adion, I tried to find a place where djDecksMac saves it prefs to try if deleting them would help, but didnt succeed (deleting DJD files from /Library/Preferences has no effect). Could you help me with that?

Settings are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/djDecks
The only thing that is saved at the moment are the input/output devices and channel selection.

It sounds like absolute mode might be on, but obviously doesn't work since the timecode files aren't loaded yet.
I'll see if I can find if this is the case.

Vinyl Control does absolutely nothing for me... the players respond to typical transport controls even when FS REL mode is activated (which I thought was strange in the first place), but none of them show even the smallest reaction to control vinyl being played into my selected inputs. Besides the inputs and outputs and then clicking the enable timecode button on the skin, is there anything else I should be doing to troubleshoot?

Could you try if line-in is working correctly?

It doesn't appear to work in line-in mode either. I've also noticed that if enable either line-in mode or vinyl control, the program crashes every time I try to quit. Sometimes this is the case even when they're not enabled, but it's always the case when they are.

New beta available.
It should now be possible to drag&drop files from the browser to the decks.

For vinyl control, absolute mode should now be working. To get it working, download the vinyl control pack from
http://djdecks.be/macos/vinylcontrol.zip
It should be extracted in the djDecks folder, so that there is a vinylcontrol folder next to the skins and devices folder.

Final Scratch, SSL and VirtualDJ binaries are included and can be loaded, but djDecks will start with Final Scratch only at the moment.

And another beta that improves vinyl control quality quite a bit.

Also, the input and output devices are no longer required to have the same samplerate. (And samplerates other than 44.1kHz also work correctly now)

No luck with this one, sorry.

The application crashes after:
- clicking apply in in/out preferences
- activating vinyl control (though not always)
I'll post the crash reports in a place where they belong.

Furthermore, in this build even regular transport control have no effect on playback. There is no playback, actually ;) - the track loads fine but won't start no matter what I do.

UPDATE:
Mkey, I call that off, kind of.
I've got rid of massive crashing by removing djdecks preferences (~/Libraries/Application Support/djDecks). Hitting 'Apply' doesnt crash the app anymore, transport started to work and vinyl control seems to be working too.
BUT.
Strange things keep happening to input and channel selection. I've only managed to get the whole thing working after fiddling with the input channels - switching them between players a few times, hitting apply, then returning to the previous selection. Before doing that I could only get the input from TCV on deck 2.

In other words - except the occasional crashes and the configuration oddities described above, all seems to be working fine. :)
(EDIT: ...and except ~55% CPU usage reported by activity monitor)

And another new beta.
It is now possible to change the vinyl type used, so now you can also try it with SSL vinyl.

Is not working here.

I have the same crash whenever I press "apply".

Removed the settings from Library/Application Support, but to no avail.

I can see DJD picking up the timecode (cos the pitch readout is moving), but no movement in the waveform and no audio through my external soundcard when I press play (Vinyl Control switched off).

I can start tracks manually by pressing play, but only hear something when I play it through my Macbook's speakers. And yes, everything is connected the right way ... I hear the Apple system sounds through my soundcard, but no DJD output.

Just to make sure : there's only 1 beta right ? The one in the first post of this thread ?

This alpha works for me... sometimes.
Same as for Krewcial, it does pickup timecode (pitch readout changes), but when I drop the needle, it's like a 10%/80% (left deck/right deck - i'm using different styli, maybe that's the reason) chance for the playback to start.
SSL does work, but the TCV indicator always shows FS no matter what I select in prefs. And there's a ~-16% offset to the pitch value.
Input and output settings are working ok, so is the sound output. It seems like U46DJ mk1 was made for Mac, because everything works flawlessly from the moment I plugged it in

Since the indicator still says FS I think there's still a problem with selecting the vinyl type, and the wrong vinyl type could explain the pitch offset and the needle dropping not working correctly.

I tested it with both FS and SSL vinyl. The transport issue appears in both cases.
EDIT: Although when I switch the TCV type to FS in preferences, djdecks seems to pick up transport more often than with SSL selected.

New beta online.
The type selected in Preferences is now correctly stored and used, please try if this works any better.

Nope. No luck with this one.
The settings are indeed stored (that was ok in the first place), but i'm always getting FS ABS as TCV type. Playback (transport) - same as before.

So when you open Preferences->Vinyl Control, you see SSL selected for deck 1?
Then when you restart djDecks and check again it is still SSL, but when you activate vinyl control on that deck it still shows FS ABS?

I'll check the new beta later tonight, and will also try to change the soundcard in- and outputs without pressing "Apply", since I get the same crashes as the ones reported in the Crash Report forum.

Yep, that's exactly it. Preferences pane and prefs saving seem to work ok. The core application doesnt.
