deleted every possible file and reference to djdecks from my Mac partition ... djdecks still refuses to boot ...

this is the first time I'm experiencing this crash (wasn't happening with the previous build) ...

Adion, any idea what this could be ?

Could you also post the sound card details shown in the Terminal when launching djDecks from there?

I think the problem may have something to do with the creation of the user settings folder.
It might be that in the new beta djDecks tries to use this folder before it is created. When updating from an older version the folder is already there so it isn't a problem, but when using the new version from scratch that could be a problem.

Thanks. If you enable Line Input, does that work, or do you hear nothing?

by "enabling line input", you mean regular playback of an audiofile without vinyl control right ? just by using the play controls on the screen ?

that works with no problems at all, I can playback files, fast forward, go back, ...

the soundcard is definitely recognised by djdecks, only vinyl control just isn't working ...

No, I mean passing the audio from your soundcard's input through djDecks to the outputs, like playing regular vinyl through djDecks.
In the spm skin, right-click 'TIMECODE' to access line in, then press the on/off icon to enable line in mode.
Now if you play your timecode or another vinyl, you should hear it through your output in the same way you would hear a regular file played in djDecks.

Edit: I've uploaded a new version, I don't think it will fix your problem yet, but it does give a little more detailed logging which can be useful.

sorry about the late reply, but I don't get anything through the line-in input ...

soundcard shows decent input level when checking in the system preferences in OSX ...

Could you try to post the log again with the new beta? It should contain a little more information.

Hopefully this will help you a bit more to determine the source of the problem ?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks, just one more thing. After starting, could you also try to enable vinyl control.
When you do that you should get a second Connect! message but with info about the Input Device instead of Output Device.

Edit: I've just found something that might be related, I've uploaded a new version, so please try with the new version.

Thanks

Did my first test run, about 30 minutes or so, with vinyl control/SSL timecode. No crashes.

Noticed a few things: The "needle dropping delay" that optik mentioned, although that only seems to appear when accessing a part of the file that has not been analyzed yet (part of waveform in overview still missing, and BTW, so far analyzing seems to take quite a long time compared to the windows version)

Overall vinyl control seems to be quite stable already, except I sometimes have problems with the pitch going wild. My guess is that this has to do with the output of my ortofon OM pro carts, which have always been a little on the high side in combination with my trusty old U46DJ. Might be fixed as soon as calibration will be possible. (Or is it and I just can't find it?)

Oh, btw, and kinda off topic: I really miss the warning window when loading a file into a deck which is still running
